When I got sick and was seen in the emergency department at Ka’u Hospital, they transferred me to Hilo Medical Center for admission to acute care there. I received excellent care at HMC but was so glad when I got a little better that they were able to send me back to Ka’u Hospital for the remainder of my treatment. They were able to continue my care and because I was back in my own neighborhood, my friends and husband could visit me much easier. The staff was very protective and made sure that I got my rest. It was as if I was in this little cocoon of love.
