Carol served as Chair of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Corporate Board of Directors until May 2017. She is a past president of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, and a past president and current member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaii ed-danmark.com. Carol is also a member of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, and served dual roles as a past president and current board member of the UH-Hilo Alumni & Friends Association, the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay, and the Friends of Big Island Drug Court.
