Thanks to the investment of State Capital Improvement funds, Ka’u Hospital has undergone a number of renovations over the past few years. We have a new nurse call system, solar parking lot lights, a new roof, new clinic entrance, upgraded nurses’ station, all new ceilings and lights, wall oxygen and suction in our acute areas, new doors, windows, and exterior paint. The entire facility is now equipped with air conditioning and filtration. Most of these improvements were necessary to ensure the air quality in the building was not adversely affected by heightened levels of sulfur dioxide that occurs during periods of increased volcanic activity. The bright new look of the facility more adequately reflects the progressive climate within the hospital. We are a little hospital with a big mission: to be the very best we can be for our community.
